While I am playing catch up, it is worth noting the well written article regarding Barbara's retirement by Gotta Know Medford. You can read that article here - https://www.gottaknowmedford.com/20260417_medford-library-director-barbara-kerr-to-retire/ You would be hard pressed to find another person in Medford that is universally liked and well regarded. Barbara has certainly earned that reputation and we will miss her greatly.
Related, while we are losing Barbara, those shoes will be filled by Sam Sednek. Sam was the logical choice here, as her role will make her more visible than she currently is, she too is universally liked and well regarded. It is safe to say the library is her life, she jumps into the programs with both feet. She immerses herself in every aspect of the library. What is unusual, there was never a fear of the unknown with Barbara stepping down, while Sam would not have assumed that she would take over there really wasn't a better choice out there. While I was unable to congratulate her personally, I'll do it through the blog! I would say good luck but that is unnecessary, no luck is needed if you know what you're doing!
