This privacy policy explains how we process and store personal data on our website from members and library patrons who register for our events.

Our website, member database, and online payment systems are hosted by Wild Apricot, a third party provider. Wild Apricot’s privacy policy is available online: https://www.wildapricot.com/legal-center/privacy-policy

2. Personal Data We Collect

For members, we collect and store the information necessary for your account:
  • First and last names

  • Mailing address

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Your membership level

  • Your communication preferences

  • Your interest in volunteering with us

The built-in payment system does not store payment information, including credit card numbers. We have no access to this information.

Wild Apricot collects and stores usernames and passwords, and we do not have access to them.

For anyone attending events requiring registration, we collect and store:
  • First and last names

  • Email address

  • Phone number (on occasion)

If a payment is required, the payment system does not store the credit card information.

3. How We Use Personal Data

Generally, we use personal data in order to provide services to members, for communications, and for planning and managing events. We use our member database for general operations, management, and accounting.

4. Disclosures of Personal Data

We do not disclose or sell personal data to any other party.

5. Cookies and Other Tracking Mechanisms

Our website has built-in cookies through Wild Apricot that may make it easier for you to navigate our site, enable faster login, or support the security and performance of the site. We do not use cookies for our own purposes. We do not use tracking mechanisms or track your activity across websites or devices. We do not use any website analytics services.

We follow all best practices and requirements to protect your personal data; however, we cannot guarantee the security of any information collected through or stored on our website. You use our site and provide us with your personal data at your own risk.

7. How Long We Retain Personal Data

We retain personal data for as long as you maintain an account with us. See #8 for how to request that your account be removed.

Members may opt out of email communications from us at any time by clicking the unsubscribe option in each message or by emailing your request to membership@friendsofmedfordlibrary.org.

Members may request that their accounts and all personal information be removed from our records by emailing membership@friendsofmedfordlibrary.org or sending it in writing to Friends of the Medford Public Library, 111 High St, Medford, MA 02155.

10. Personal Data of Minors

We provide a general audience website. The site is not designed for minors, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. Our registration events are typically adult-only and are identified as such. We do not knowingly collect registration information from minors.

We are not responsible for the information practices of such third parties, including their collection of your personal data.
