How to Donate

Did you know that everything we sell at our Book Sales is donated to us? We hope you'll consider donating too.

After an extended COVID-19 shutdown, we are very excited to be accepting donations again! Please email us at to make arrangements. At this time, we ask that you do not leave items at the library.

What We Accept

We gladly accept:

  • Books in good readable condition. We cannot sell books with broken spines, missing pages or covers, or water damage. Please discard any books that have visible mold or a mildewy odor.

  • Media: DVDs, books-on-CD, CDs, and current computer software

  • Games and Jigsaw Puzzles

We are unable to accept:

  • Magazines

  • VHS or cassette tapes

  • Records

  • Encyclopedias

  • Textbooks more than 5 years old

  • Travel guides more than 5 years old

A Word About Items We Are Not Able To Sell

Unfortunately, we do not always have shelf space for everything that is donated to us. Items that we cannot use are donated to More Than Words, a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, court-involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. They run a used bookstore in Boston.

We also invite the librarians to look through new donations in case any donated materials can be added to the library’s collection. Many items have been added in this way, especially replacement copies of damaged books. We are able to save the library hundreds of dollars that can then be used for purchasing additional new materials.

We are always looking for other ways to make the best use of books that we are unable to keep. If you have any ideas or know an organization that would like to receive a donation of books, please let us know!
